At the beginning of October, one of our girls turned 7! We loved singing Happy Birthday, and eating some delicious chocolate birthday cake 🤗
We worked as a team to plant some daffodils along our new new grange stepping stones. We had to be sure to put the bulbs under the ground where they would be nice and snug and put them in facing the right way up. We helped each other by taking turns to get the bulbs out of the bag and gave them to each other to put in the ground. Then we worked together to stomp the ground back down so the bulbs would grow straight up! Some clay got on our hands but it was ok because we washed them afterwards. Planting in the garden is great fun--we hope the daffodil bulbs grow next spring! We had so much fun visiting Newgrange Farm today. John showed us around the farm. We saw lots of animals, fed the lambs bottles, held the kittens and chicks, played with the rabbits and puppy and gave bread to the ducks. There was lots of space to run around and play in the sand pit, the grass, and the tractor area. We had such a great day and were so sleepy coming home on the bus after all our fun. We love the story of The Tiger Who Came to Tea. He ate all the sandwiches, and all the biscuits and all the buns. We made our own sandwiches ourselves for our tea party. First we put a slice of bread on the plate, then we buttered it using a knife, then we could put ham and cheese on it. Very tasty. We enjoyed it with our tea and milk!
We have been learning about the signs of autumn. We learned about the red, yellow and orange leaves. We went outside and saw them on the trees and we saw the delicious big pumpkins and squashes in the school garden. We learned about animals that hibernate like the hedgehog, bat, bear and snail and we read a poem about Sammy Snail. We made a beautiful tree with autumn leaves on it for the wall in the G.P. room.
